Showcasing the art and culture of Mexicans, Chicanos and Native Americans for 30 years, the museum features murals painted by the same prominent San Diego artists responsible for the murals in Chicano Park, beneath the Coronado Bridge.
Take a good look at the striking interior mural "La Dualidad" conceived by Guillermo Aranda, an artist's view of the plight of Mexican and indigenous American peoples.
There's also a proscenium-stage theater that seats around 150, mostly on benches. Besides theater, the Centro has featured a Latino comedy troupe, and a Latino cinema series that included an appearance by Chicana filmmaker Lourdes Portillo, an Oscar-nominated documentary artist.
The museum also offers performing arts classes for both children and adults.
